Layaly is built on decades of experience, family tradition, and a deep love for sharing food. Founder Sammy spent over 25 years in the restaurant industry, owning and operating beloved concepts like Jaffa Gate, Sahara, and Sammy’s Deli between 1979 and 2005, creating spaces where hospitality and authentic cooking came first. Even after stepping away, the dream of opening one more restaurant never left him, and years later, that vision became Layaly. Opening a restaurant again later in life, when most are thinking about slowing down, was a bold move, but his passion made it impossible to stay away. The restaurant itself sits in a place filled with personal history, a small home tucked away on Clairmont that few would expect to become a restaurant, now transformed into a warm and welcoming space where food, culture, and community come together. As Layaly grew, Paul stepped in to help lead the business, bringing new energy while continuing the traditions his father built, and together they have shaped Layaly into one of Atlanta’s most recognized Mediterranean restaurants.
